ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE
The Christmas tree was truly beautiful!  John Leonard of Leonard Christmas Trees gave us a truly lovely tree.  We had many people contributing names, many 2 or more, so the entire board was full again this year. The lights on the tree were in remembrance of our loved ones.  It is awesome that so many people are remembered at that time of the year.  We had a nice turnout for the service even though it was very cold.   We couldn't do it without your contributions.  Thank you for your help!

VETERANS’ ROLL OF HONOR

This project continues to grow each year but is not supported like the Christmas tree.  Maybe this year we can really support our veterans and show them how much we care and appreciate what They do for us.   In May we will have a roll of honor on the board located at the main entrance to the cemetery.  Family and friends of military personnel can remember the sacrifices of their loved ones, whether living or deceased, by putting their names on the memorial board. You may have a name entered on this board for a $5.00 contribution in memory or in honor of, any member of the armed forces that you desire.  These people, if deceased, do not have to be buried in Mt. Adnah.  Also, the person’s name making the donation is listed.  All donations will go for the maintenance of the cemetery.  There will also be a Memorial Day tribute from the city of Fulton on Memorial Day at the cemetery.  Any names received at Christmas for this board will be put on in May.
CHICKEN BARBEQUE

We will be doing a chicken barbeque this year. It will be on Sunday, June 3rd, at noon, at the cemetery.
Please watch the local newspapers for details.  We especially thank the people who come every year.  Your support is what keeps the barbeque going.    It is always great to see old friends at this time.

CURRENTLY AT MT. ADNAH

With spring coming, there is always a lot of clean up to be done in the cemetery.  We had a very, very mild winter this year.  Spring clean up began in March this year as we are enjoyed some really nice weather.  Of course, there are always a lot of branches to be picked up and leaves to clean up but that’s life at Mt. Adnah.
The cemetery looks really good already thanks to Dave Smith, our superintendent.

LOT SALES

Lot sales were better than usual in the fall so our income was in better shape for the winter months.   The trend seems to be moving toward cremations.  However, this does not help our income as many people take the ashes of their loved one home and they are never buried.  This is unfortunate as there is no record of what happens to these ashes.  Years later, when relatives are trying to find them, it is almost impossible.

Please do consider purchasing a regular lot or a cremation lot sooner, rather than later, as the price does go up. Also, there is a committee of people from the Preservation Board  and the Mt. Adnah Trustees to work on making the Cremation Garden much more attractive.  We hope to move forward with this project this year.  Please remember Mt. Adnah in your estate plans.

FUTURE PLANS

Mt. Adnah Road Building Fund – we have received some donations toward this project.  This money has been put into a fund for this purpose.   Thank you to those who did respond to this project.  This will be ongoing for a long time.

INFORMATION FOR EVERYONE

There has been some confusion as to the differences between the Mt. Adnah Preservation  Foundation and the Mt. Adnah Cemetery Association.  They are as follows:

Mt. Adnah Preservation Foundation – is a not-for-profit citizen’s organization founded to preserve, promote and protect Mt. Adnah

Cemetery, its natural resources and its rich cultural and historical heritage and to aid in maintaining and restoring its buildings, monuments and grounds.

Mt. Adnah Cemetery Association - it is the Board of Trustees responsibility to hire employees, sell lots, keep records, maintain necessary insurance, pay all expenses, collect necessary monies, purchase and maintain equipment used in the cemetery, handle any problems at the cemetery and follow New York State rules and regulations.

You must own a lot in the cemetery to be on the board.   This is the business side of the cemetery. This is why your donations are necessary to keep the cemetery in business.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT IN THE PAST AND IN THE FUTURE.   WE ALWAYS NEED YOUR SUPPORT AND IDEAS.

The ANNUAL Meeting of the Board Trustees will be on Wednesday, May 9th at 7:00 pm at the cemetery house.   All lot owners are invited to attend.

Mt. Adnah Cemetery Association Board of Trustees: Henry Hudson, Paul Foster, Leonard Snow,     Rosemary Scott, Ken Myers, Betty Cooper, Marvin Jensen

Please, if you have any ideas, questions or concerns, call the cemetery office at 315-592-7338 between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm.
